Recently King Content has had immense growth and with that has come the opportunity for some of our staff to transfer to one of our global offices in their existing role or to a new one to service clients in the region. We think it’s a pretty cool feat, so we asked them to put it into their own words.
First up Sarah Linney, a Content Editor from Sydney, who has just landed in NYC!
When did you start working at King Content?
I started at the end of October 2014.
When you began, where did you see yourself in a year’s time and compare that to where you are now
Coming from a business magazine, content marketing was a completely new world, filled with confusing acronyms and new technologies. In the past year, I’ve learned so much and I’ve worked with some incredible clients. It’s been a massive learning curve, but it’s exciting to know that you’re in an industry and a company that’s growing so rapidly.
How did the opportunity to go to New York with King Content come up?
Our lovely HR Manager Sarah posted on Chatter that KC needed a Content Editor in our New York office and asked if anyone was interested. I obviously replied straightaway, basically begging for the opportunity. I think I’ve promised Sarah my firstborn child in return, but it’s totally worth it.
What will your role in New York entail?
I’ll be a Content Editor and Strategist for the New York office, working across a range of B2B and B2C clients. I’ll be the day-to-day manager liaising between writers, sub-editors, designers and clients. It’s mostly what I do now, but I’ll be more involved with strategy work and really taking clients on that journey from strategy to implementation.
What are you most excited about?
So. Many. Things. Working and living in New York, finding a (hopefully amazing) apartment in Brooklyn, eating bagels all the time and even riding the subway every day!
What do you find most inspiring?
How much KC has grown in the year I’ve been here. The Sydney office has ballooned and we’ve welcomed so many amazing people into our ranks. It’s hard to say goodbye to all of them!
Tell us a little about your plans for New York (outside of work)
Well, I’ve got to get to a Knicks game and a Yankees game. There’s a bakery in Williamsburg that does rainbow bagels. And Taylor Swift and Lena Dunham are probably going to become my new BFFs. So I’m going to be prettyyyy busy.
