Careering at King Content: Will, Content Analyst

February 24, 2016Uncategorized

Recently King Content has had immense growth and with that has come the opportunity for some of our staff to transfer to one of our global offices in their existing role or to a new one to service clients in the region. We think it’s a pretty cool feat, so we asked them to put it into their own words.

This week we talk to Will Tulloch, our Content Analyst who recently relocated to King Content’s London office.

Tell us when you first started at KC and describe your first role at King Content:

I started way back in June 2014, as an intern in the Melbourne office.

Where did you see yourself heading when you first started and compare that to where you are now?

I accidentally fell into the content marketing game through a twist of fate, and saw my internship as a stepping stone to the bright lights of advertising. After a few months of lambasting advertising as a superfluous industry in its death throes, the dream lost its allure. It’s been an edifying experience and, as a convert to the church of Pulizzi, I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

How did the opportunity to go to London with KC come up?

To be honest, it was more of an ultimatum than an opportunity. I vaguely remember calling my then boss on a Friday night, drunk on wanderlust and hard liquor, to let him know about my imminent move to South America. We compromised on London, and fortunately the hierarchy there were receptive to the idea.

What does your role now entail in London?

It’s quite a diverse role at the moment, which I’m enjoying. Outside of new business, I try to keep myself busy with odd design jobs around the office.

What were you most excited about?

If someone had told me five years ago that I’d one day be creating content alongside Scottish flyweight chess-boxing champion and veritable giant of the sport Svein ‘Pawnslayer’ Clouston, I would have bitten their prophetic hand off. Childhood idols aside, working with the team here was what excited me most before I arrived.

Tell us a little about your plans for London (outside of work):

It’s quite cold here as it turns out, so at the moment my plans revolve around staying indoors as much as possible.
